Industrial output of China’s steel sector up five percent in Jan-May
In the January-May period this year, the value-added industrial output of the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector in China recorded a year-on-year rise of 5.0 percent, 0.5 percentage points slower compared to the increase in the first four months of the current year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). In May alone, the value-added industrial output of the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector in China indicated a year-on-year increase of 3.1 percent, 1.2 percentage points slower than the increase in April.In the first five months, China's overall value-added industrial output increased by 3.6 percent year on year. In May alone, the overall value-added industrial output increased by 3.5 percent year on year, while it rose by 0.63 percent month on month.In May this year, of the 41 industrial sectors in China, 21 witnessed year-on-year increases in value-added industrial output.In May, outputs in the mining and manufacturing sectors declined by 1.2 percent and increased by 4.1 percent year on year, respectively.
